Make sure you check-in

Each café manages how many seats they allocate to Café Workplace. Checking in helps to make sure we manage volumes so they can still function as a café, and for participating cafes, it accrues a free coffee every 10th visit. Remember you still need to make some kind of purchase at the café.

Check and adhere to your maximum session time

Café Workplace maximum session times vary by café and start at at least 2 hours. Maximum session times are presented on the Café Workplace map tile for the café, and appear on your phone when you check-in. The session time makes it clear to the café staff and yourself exactly how long you can work so it’s a positive experience for everyone.

No video conference calls, online video lectures, or sales work

Café Workplace time is a period to get some work done, whether that’s reading, studying, document writing, or presentations. We’re contributing to the ambiance of the café; we need to be mindful of the environment.

If you’re worried about the café being full for Café Workplace workers, book your session in advance

Although this usually isn’t a problem, you can always book your seat in advance if you’re worried about the café having all its Café Workplace numbers being maxed out. If you book, though, please turn up or cancel your booking. You never have to stay for the whole duration of the session.
