Check in with the bamboo card
It’s at the counter. Checking in tells the café you’re a member, starts your stay pass, and keeps the whole system flowing.
Check busy times before you go
Cafés can set a busy period, like the lunch rush, when laptops aren’t welcome. The map shows these before you go. If you check in shortly before one, your stay ends when it starts, and the app tells you when that is.
Buy something each time you check in
Most people feel they can only stay half an hour to an hour on a coffee. Our cafés have agreed to longer: up to 2 hours per check-in. When your pass says your stay has ended, it’s time to pack up.
Keep calls short, headphones on
You’ll be wanted and you won’t be moved on: if staff clear your cup, they’re just tidying up, not asking you to leave. Keep our side of the bargain and be the laptop worker every café would love to have.
Wi-Fi and power are a bonus, not a promise
What we promise is a seat in a welcoming café. Some cafés offer Wi-Fi and some have power points, so ask rather than expect. Public Wi-Fi has security risks: use it at your own risk.
In return, the café has agreed to your stay: no hints to move on and no pressure to order more. If staff clear your cup, they’re just tidying up, not asking you to leave.
